A Claustrophobic Psychological Thriller About Survival, Paranoia, and the Secrets We Bring Onboard
Picture this:
It is March 2020.
You are stranded on a remote cruise ship while the world shuts down.
No ports will take you.
Supplies are running low.
Tensions are rising.
And then the bodies start dropping.
With 753 desperate passengers trapped at sea, survival depends on more than luck.
Among them:
A father willing to do anything to secure his daughter’s future.
An artist running from a past that refuses to stay buried.
A hacker chasing one final score before it is too late.
But no one expects the mysterious cult convention taking place onboard.
And when people begin to die, the question is not just who.
It is why.
Is it the virus?
Or is it one of them?
The Sickness is a razor-sharp, claustrophobic psychological thriller about fear, isolation, secrets, and the monstrous things people do when pushed to the edge.

Loved the book!! If you want a good read check it out
Hard to put down very action packed. I enjoyed the book very much. I recommend this to anyone thank you for it.
This book was a quick read and really kept me wanting more! Overall a good book! I would recommend if you like thrillers!
This was not a Great American Novel but it was a popcorn thriller lol I read the bad reviews and almost ran away, especially since it refused to go on sale but I'm a sucker for COVID fiction and cruise ship claustrophobic thrillers. This has both so I wasn't going to miss out!
While atmospheric in its prose, which is admittedly a little messy, it was not as focused on the pandemic as you'd expect it to be, if that's a concern. There's a cult on board the cruise and they're using the opportunity to their advantage and the rest must fight back or bend to their will.
It was somewhat silly but I tore through it so I'm giving it a high rating. No, it isn't believable. What was believable during early covid anyway?! I imagined seeing this story on CNN lol speaking of, it wasn't political so that was cool also. To be able to write a story around something divisive without being political is a gift, and I appreciate it.
King's books are hit and miss for me but I think she's growing as an author and I am always interested to see what she's up to next because she isn't afraid to take creative risks.
Book revealed a couple of storylines through being told from several different points of view, and the reveal and wrap up of the "side story" I didn't see coming and it caught me off guard. The story is good if you suspend disbelief in some of the situations going on, which I often do as a horror fan. I think Britney did a fine job and I'm looking forward to reading some more of her works.
